There are four movie opening weekends in March, but very few blockbusters or even wide releases in general.
Mar 7:
My bets are on 10,000 B.C., as the CGI animals in this look incredible. Richard Roeper had good words for The Bank Job and Jason Statham in general.
Mar 14:
Who doesn’t believe Jim Carrey and Horton Hears a Who! will top the charts for this opening weekend?
Mar 21:
Really slim pickings this week. It’ll give me time to catch up on movies I haven’t seen. From Feb and Jan, that is.
Mar 28:
More slim pickings. The movie 21 looks very interesting, despite the fact that the claim in trailers that it’s inspired by a true story seem tenuous. (As one film blogger pointed out a few weeks ago, the original characters were both Asian males, not a white Caucasian guy and girl.) I haven’t seen the trailers for Run, Fatboy, Run, but it’s David Schwimmer’s (Ross from Friends) directorial debut. But if Leslie Neilsen’s “still got it”, the spoof Superhero Movie might be topping the charts. While he doesn’t seem to be a major character, this is from the Scary Movie people. Flawless might have Demi Moore and Michael Caine, but I’m not crossing my fingers. Stop Loss has Ryan Phillipe and is about war. Sorry, not my thing. (But has anyone noticed how Joseph Gordon-Levitt keeps looking more and more like Heath Ledger over the years?)
As I said, March has slim pickings. Hopefully April will make up for that, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
