Movie Box Office Top 10 - Mon Mar 10, 2008

The three wide-release movies that opened over the weekend all made it into the box office top 10. Not too surprisingly, 10,000 B.C. made it to #1. That’s probably purely on the quality of the computer graphics creatures (which has looked great in the trailers I’ve seen.)

I saw no new movies this weekend, thanks to yet another monster snowstorm, thanks to Texas yet again. All I can relay is what Richard Roeper (Ebert and Roeper) said… He liked The Bank Job, hated College Road Trip, and I don’t recall any discussion of 10,000 B.C. But I doubt anyone’s going to see the latter in hopes of a good story. I know I’m going purely to see the wooly mammoths and the sabretooth tigers.

As for movies that opened recently that are in the top 10 above, I’ve not seen #4, 9, 10. Reviews for #3, 4, 6, 8, and probably 10 are coming.

All the Oscar-winning movies that were hanging on in the top 10 have dropped from the list. For now. A lot of them are in the repertory/ artsy theater circuit now.
