Movie Box Office Top 10 - Mon Apr 14, 2008

Of the three wide-release movies that opened this past weekend, all of them made the top 10 in box office receipts. Not too suprisingly, Prom Night and Street Kings were in the top 5. But I would have thought Smart People would have fared much better than #7 spot.

3. [1] 21. Kate Bosworth, Laurence Fishburne, Kevin Spacey.
4. [2] Nim’s Island. Jodie Foster, Gerard Butler, Abigail Breslin.
5. [3] Leatherheads. George Clooney, Renée Zellweger, John Krasinski.
6. [4] Horton Hears a Who! Jim Carrey, Steve Carell.
7. [-] Smart People. Dennis Quaid, Thomas Haden Church, Sarah Jessica Parker, Ellen Page.
8. [5] The Ruins. Shawn Ashmore, Jena Malone, Jonathan Tucker.
9. [6] Superhero Movie. Leslie Neilsen, Drake Bell, Sara Paxton.
10. [8] Drillbit Taylor. Owen Wilson, Josh Peck, Alex Frost.

Then again, the movies have been slim pickings so far this year. So the rapid turnover means that some of them might do better on DVD. As for a movie-going experience, I can’t wait until the big blockbusters start showing, around late May.
