Film: 21.
Release: Wide.
Category: Drama.
Opening: Fri Mar 28, 2008.
Director: Robert Luketic.
Writer: Peter Steinfeld and Allan Loeb, based on a book by Ben Mezrich.
Cast: Kate Bosworth, Laurence Fishburne, Kevin Spacey.
Rating: PG-13.
Runtime: 123 min.
Notes: This is “inspired” by the true story of two male Asian Americans who unleashed themselves on Las Vegas and won lots of money. If I’m not mistaken (I haven’t read the book), casinos changed their rules afterwards, in terms of house limits and allowable behavior from patrons. Now “inspired by” is probably pretty loose, since 21’s two lead characters have changed sex and race. Still, it actually looks very exciting from the trailers, and it might be worth seeing just for Kevin Spacey’s role alone.
